Daniel J. Hand is a Mediator and Facilitator who's provided over 15 years of service to resolve conflict arising in the areas of civil litigation, work site disagreements and domestic dispute cases.
Hand has worn several hats throughout his 15-year career as a Mediator. In 2009, he was appointed to his current position of Department Director at the National Education Association in Washington, DC. Hand is responsible for the daily operations of the Training Development and Organization Effectiveness department including but not limited to, facilitated conversations, customized training designs, and improving work place communication.
Prior to this appointment, he was hired as a Trainer/Designer and Facilitator at National Education Association where he developed and trained a number of modules including a Basic (20hr) Mediation package, served as Coach and Consultant for Affiliate Leaders and Management, and developed facilitation and advocacy training modules for International Affiliates.
Hand has also served two years as an Arbitrator for the City of Richmond Better Business Bureau, two years as a Court Appointed Mediator for Prince William County Mediation Services and three years as a Mediator for the Virginia Alternative Dispute Resolution agency.
Hand has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in English Language and Literature, 1979 from Eastern Michigan University. He has received several professional certifications; as a General Mediator by the Supreme Court of Virginia, 1998 as well as a Certified Mentor Mediator. In 2003 Hand received his Organizational Development certificate from the National Training Laboratory. Hand is a member of the Virginia Mediation Network and is a licensed practitioner with the City of Richmond through the establishment of Hand and Associates Mediation Services. Hand and Associates is also a registered member of the Better Business Bureau of Richmond, VA.
Hand’s extra-curricular affiliations include membership in the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity,Inc and the Knights of Columbus.
Hand resides in Richmond, VA.
